The Spooks Parade
It’s time for chaos and craziness to descend across the “Wild, Wild West” streets of Drogheda as the Spooks Parade 2025 launches the Lú Festival of Light this October. Everybody Needs Somebody - our colourful pageant takes to the ancient thoroughfare, watch out for the Headless Skeletons chasing their bobbing about Body-less Skulls, as they all try to catch the last ghostly train to Ghoulishtown before the winter’s dark nights descend upon us all!
A participative collaborative cross community arts project, with six primary schools,180 children, across Drogheda and East Meath. The Spooks Parade is produced and co-ordinated by Droichead Arts Centre, with Artistic Direction by artist/musician Kieran Gallagher (Kada Ka Boom Arts). The artistic team consists of: Breda Marron (sculptor), Yvonne Dowd Gardiner (Visual Artist), Darrin Finnegan (Grafitti Artist), Vivienne Byrne (Mixed Media Artist) and choreographer Tracy Martin (Kidkast). Additional singers and musicians will participate as well as members of Droichead Youth Theatre, and another 200 children will join the back of the parade on the day with their families, combined with over 1000 people lining up across the town to view the parade.
