The Ubuntu Youth Music Project is a vibrant, youth-led celebration of diversity, creativity, and community. Taking place across West and East Cork, the project engages migrant and local youth (ages 13–18) in consultation, co-creating and original music, spoken word, and dance that reflect their identities, cultures, and experiences. Rooted in the African philosophy of Ubuntu—"I am because we are"—this initiative fosters intercultural connection and creative expression through workshops, performances, and a Youth Assembly. Events take place in Macroom, Midleton, and Clonakilty over three years, the first year beginning with Midleton, and highlight unity and inclusion in smaller towns across the county. Participants receive mentorship in songwriting, music production, storytelling, and curation, leading to public showcase events that strengthen community bonds and amplify young voices.
