Women of The World Craft Together
Women of the World Craft Together” was a community craft workshop series, with a particular focus on engaging with women from different backgrounds, faiths and cultures in a creative way. 102 women participated in the 8 therapeutic craft workshops coordinated and facilitated by artist and educator Anna West.
4 of the workshops took place in Trinity Hall, Letterkenny and 4 took place in nearby international protection accommodation centres. Alongside the Intercultural Platform Community Links Worker Nolunga, assisted by Sheryl, Christianah and Sibusiso, (also from the Intercultural Platform and members of Women of the World), Anna took the workshops on the road to 4 IPAS centres to share this creative experience with women who were unable to travel to the Trinity Hall workshops. This, in turn, provided an opportunity for the Intercultural Platform staff to engage with women in a relaxed way, sharing information about upcoming events and supports available to people seeking asylum, all whilst using mindful craft techniques to make beautiful wearable art.
