Yesterday Calling
The proposed project will see the development of three standalone ‘current affairs-style' radio programmes. Each programme will discuss an actual historical event, as if it has just happened. It is planned that these events will reflect pivotal points in the national narrative – specifically the Civil War, the outbreak of WWII and the proclamation of the Republic of Ireland. Each programme will consist of a studio panel discussing what has occurred and its ramifications both from a local and national perspective. To ensure a contemporary feel, each programme will include music from the time, adverts for local businesses as well as actual archive recordings from the associated period. More modern features, typically associated with today’s broadcasts, will also be included e.g., vox pops. It is planned that each programme will last approximately 30 mins. It is hoped that the project will be broadcast on a local community radio station, Dundalk FM. It will also be available via the Museum social media platforms.
Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
