Blue Raincoat Theatre Company wish to explore the creation of a new and independent Theatre in Education (TIE) company at their base in Sligo that enriches the lives of children and young people in Sligo.

Theatre in Education is a powerful tool for enhancing learning experiences among children and young adults. It can change the knowledge, attitudes, or behaviours of audience members. It allows complex themes to be presented in an engaging and accessible manner, fostering critical thinking, empathy, and creative expression.

With the support of the Creative Ireland programme, the company will now undertake Phase 1 of the initiative with models of best practice within the TIE sector explored and a panel of theatre-artists, practitioners & other collaborators established. In tandem with this, there will also be a multifaceted engagement with teachers and student representatives from Sligo primary schools whose responses may inform a panel of themes for future TIE projects.
