Cultural Companions Creative Seasons: Art, Aging & Nature
This inspiring series of seasonal, half-day workshops invites older adults to celebrate the Celtic calendar festivals through creativity, connection, and culture. Rooted in the rhythms of nature and the richness of Irish tradition, each workshop blends art, writing, folklore, traditional crafts, and music to explore themes of renewal, growth, gratitude, and reflection.
Taking place around the Cross-Quarter Days—from Bealtaine to Lúnasa, culminating in Samhain—the workshops are designed to foster self-expression, empowerment, and a deeper connection to the natural world. Each session includes hands-on creative activities and communal sharing, encouraging both individual and collaborative projects. Participants will take home meaningful creations that reflect the spirit of the season.
The programme will conclude with a showcase performance event, celebrating the creativity and stories of all involved.
In collaboration with the Cork City Kinship Project, some workshops will be hosted in the Ecolab at Tramore Valley Park, situating creativity within a living landscape and inspiring environmental engagement.
Open to all older adults, this series celebrates the enriching potential of aging and the joy of lifelong creativity.
