Happy as Larks
Happy as Larks is a vibrant community arts project celebrating traditional singing, storytelling, and cultural exchange across County Leitrim. Building on the success of Taking Flight, this initiative continues our monthly Lend an Ear sessions, welcoming experienced singers, storytellers, and children under 14 through our Little Larks programme.
This year, we’re expanding our creative scope with hands-on workshops in ballad-sheet woodcut printing, teaming with the Rainbow Singing Circle to coordinate a traditional song-tour of North Leitrim and putting a special focus on the songs of the Leitrim travelling community. We’re honoured to host traveller-singer Trish Reilly, whose ancestral songs offer a unique insight into Leitrim’s musical heritage.
Led by traditional singer and educator Fionnuala Maxwell, and supported by renowned artists including Frances Kennedy, Rosie Stewart and others, the project encourages creativity, inclusion, and environmental awareness. Sessions are open to all, celebrating diverse voices and traditions while fostering a deeper connection to our shared cultural roots.
Join us to sing, listen, learn, and be part of a growing community that values tradition, creativity, and connection.
