Performed during the summer of 2025, The Sessions will be delivered across Wexford’s four HSE nursing homes: New Houghton, New Ross; Gorey District Hospital; St Johns, Enniscorthy; and Abbeygale, Wexford Town. Seizing the opportunity to connect the residents to the Fleadh, The Sessions is a traditional Irish music and dance programme designed specifically for older people. Led by experienced arts and health choreographer and dancer Vivian Brodie Hayes and world class uileann pipe player Mark Redmond, the programme offers residents the opportunity to watch, engage and enjoy music through storytelling and rhythm. Exploring the themes of culture, memory and connection, the dancers will expertly steer the residents towards moments of movement that help them to connect with themselves and each other, encouraging them to feel valid and authentic.

The Sessions is one of Creative Ireland Wexford’s Creative Health and Wellbeing projects, supporting the creation of healthy environments and positive aging.
