Through a series of workshops and performances in 2025, this initiative will harness the power of music, comedy, and storytelling. Students will use the power of the arts and creativity to build resilience, confidence, positive mindset, with the aim of fulfilling their potential. By working with experienced facilitators, professional artists well-known in the North-West, the project supports Sligo’s Culture and Creativity Strategy (2023-2027) by enabling young people to explore their own identities through meaningful artistic expression and cultivate a vibrant creative community with each other.
Key Activities:
•    Workshops: Six SMD-led workshops focusing on music performance, songwriting, and technical skills. These workshops would be led and facilitated by industry professionals.
•    Comedy Festival Nights: Comedy-focused workshops with Brendan Tierney, culminating in a night of youth-centred comedy performances.
•    Final Showcase: A public performance at The CRIB featuring participants which moves to highlight The CRIB as a venue for all young people, accompanied by professional musicians, to celebrate and demonstrate their creative journeys.
•    Film Documentation: A professional film team will document the program to create a legacy asset, inspiring future creative projects.
The impact of this project will be significant, providing high-quality opportunities for young people, including those facing social challenges, to explore and develop their creative potential.
