Seachtain na Gaeilge
Celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge from the 1st of March to the 19th of March at Offaly Libraries. Seachtain na Gaeilge significantly impacts the promotion and celebration of the Irish language and culture. It is an international festival and one of the biggest celebrations of the Irish language.
The festival gives people an opportunity to enjoy Irish, whether they are fluent speakers, learners or just have a cúpla focal. It plays a crucial role in preserving Irish culture and heritage by bringing communities together through a wide variety of entertaining and fun events for every type of interest and every age group.
As part of the festival this year Offaly libraries will be hosting Maidin Caifé – a relaxed tea/coffee morning with cúpla focal. Tráth na gCeist – a quiz for school groups or adult audiences. Irish-language Film Screening – short films and a feature in Irish. Lá na gCiorcal – 11.03.2025 which spotlights the Irish groups around the country and also on the 19th of March an Irish book club session will take place in the Tullamore Library branch.
