Awake At Your Wake
Awake At Your Wake is a series of three morning workshops for adult caregivers of other adults e.g. an adult with intellectual learning difference, an older person, or adult with age-related diagnosis/condition.
The aim of the workshop is to offer this group of seldom heard voices a safe and supportive space to reflect on their lives, identities and experiences beyond the role of caregiver. Participants will use accessible creative tools such as writing, guided visualization, collage, and art to express their life stories, identities, and emotional journeys.
- Participants will create a Cultural Kaleidoscope that represents key moments and the range of cultural influences such as music, food, travel and the arts that have shaped their sense of self.
- Small group exercises create opportunities for mutual understanding as caregivers with a view to reducing feelings of isolation.
- This group of seldom heard voices will have the opportunity to showcase their creative expression to the wider community (separate to the workshop as desired and with consent)
