Creative Writing Kilrush

Belonging and Community with Olesia Rudenko

This six-week memoir writing programme offers a supportive introduction to the art of personal storytelling. Through practical writing exercises and discussion, participants will learn key memoir techniques including storytelling, structure, theme, voice, and character. The course will also explore extracts from established memoir writers, examining how narrative devices bring personal experiences to life.

Using carefully designed prompts, participants will reflect on significant memories, life experiences, and personal themes to uncover and develop the stories they want to tell. A welcoming and encouraging environment will support creativity, confidence, and the growth of each writer's individual voice.

Over six weeks, participants will produce a series of short memoir pieces and have opportunities to share their work with the group. Constructive feedback from the tutor and fellow participants will help writers refine their craft and deepen their understanding of memoir writing.
