Bru Moytura, a long‑established cultural centre overlooking Lough Arrow in South Sligo, hosts The Irish Annals, a community‑led initiative founded by Colum Stapleton that revives the ancient Irish tradition of annals writing. The project will produce a contemporary hand‑crafted De Réir Book of Moytura, created on site using 50 large parchment sheets and developed in collaboration with Sligo‑based illustrator Leonora Neary and calligrapher Renato Melo.

Alongside the creation of this modern manuscript, the initiative will engage local primary and secondary schools through workshops, educational resources, and opportunities for young people to work directly with the contributing artists. Community engagement will be further supported through two public events, including a launch, to celebrate Sligo’s creative heritage and strengthen local cultural connection.
