A Lot Island in the Bog - Roots and Routes

Pullough Residents Association and Pullough Heritage Group will collaborate on a community led visual arts project exploring the village's heritage and evolving landscape, inspired by Fr, Browne's description of Pullough as 'a lost island in the bog'. Once isolated by flooding, Pullough later became a centre for brick making and peat production, and is now shaped by environmental renewal, including bog rewetting and greenway development. This project will capture these changes within living memory through visual art. Led by artists, Esther Lambe and Rosemarie Langtry, residents will reflect on local architecture, lived experience and the forces of labour, water and change that have shaped the area.  The programme includes workshops in painting and stained glass, combining creative practice with research and discussion. A Plein Air painting event will invite wider community and visiting artists to engage with the landscape. The project will conclude with an exhibition and photographic showcase, presenting participants' work alongside aspects of Pullough's history.

A Plein Air painting morning will also be organised, opening participation to the wider community and visiting artists, and providing an opportunity to engage directly with Pullough’s rich heritage landscape.

The project will culminate in an exhibition and photographic showcase, presenting participants’ work alongside elements of the village’s history.
