A Sculpture Trail for Birr Vintage Week
This initiative brings together temporary festival artworks and existing permanent pieces to create a cohesive visual journey through the town, inviting both residents and visitors to experience Birr from a fresh perspective.
The trail highlights not only prominent public sculptures and architectural features, but also celebrates smaller, often overlooked elements that contribute to the town’s unique character. From mosaic panels and community-led artworks to distinctive shopfronts, the library, and hidden creative spaces such as the Tin Jug Studio, each stop reveals a layer of Birr’s artistic identity.
A curated selection of temporary installations and site-specific works will animate streets, green spaces, and historic locations, creating a dialogue between contemporary art and the town’s built and natural environments. An outdoor community participation project will further encourage local involvement, while four local artists will create glass sculptures at Glasshammer Studio as part of the trail. A signature outdoor sculpture has been developed as a joint commission between Night and Day Festival, Vintage Week, and Longford Lights.
Accessible to all, the trail will be supported by a clear, user-friendly map and guided walks, including a Late Night Art Trail. Together, these elements form a dynamic arts experience that reflects Birr as a place where creativity is woven into everyday life, enhancing cultural engagement during the festival and beyond.
