Beginner-Friendly Irish Trad Sessions
In weekly sessions led by accomplished traditional Irish musician Tyler Holt, and in collaboration with Gustavo Lobão, adult beginners and learners of Traditional Irish music will be welcomed to an informal and relaxed setting to engage with traditional music and Irish-language songs.
This initiative addresses an ongoing need within Galway’s traditional music scene for supportive spaces that encourage beginners, as there is often a gap between attending music lessons and working up the confidence to join the established, fast-paced pub sessions that Galway City is known for.
Beginner-Friendly Irish Trad Sessions will help bridge this gap by offering a welcoming, low-pressure entry point into Galway’s wider trad community. Participants will be encouraged to share tunes, lead sets, and explore a diverse repertoire that includes both instrumental music and songs in Irish, English, and other languages. This approach fosters creative expression, collaboration, and a deeper engagement with Galway’s rich cultural traditions.
