Read, Play, Create - Parent & Toddler (Age 1 - 5) Workshop

Kate Kelly is an artist, educator and founder of Art Room 109, with a background in Fine Art Paint and Printmaking and Art and Design Education. A former secondary school art teacher, she now specialises in inclusive creative play workshops. These unique sessions are bespoke, sensory, process led art experiences for young children and their grown ups. This project proposes a 6 week block of “Read, Play and Create” workshops in Ballybane Library for parents and toddlers
aged 1 to 5.

These weekly 60 minute sessions combine storytelling with open ended, sensory art and play, creating a relaxed and welcoming space for families to connect, explore and create together. Each session is inspired by a different children's authors such as Oliver Jeffers, Julia Donalson, Mo Williems and invites children to engage in child led activities such as painting, printmaking, playdough and sensory play using taste safe, easy to recreate materials.

The workshops encourage creativity, early literacy and positive parent child interaction, while supporting confidence and curiosity in young children. Building on the success of previous Creative Ireland funded library programmes, this initiative aims to strengthen community engagement and position Ballybane Library as a vibrant, inclusive space for young families to gather, play and create.
