Bee’rilliant FREE Family Day at Glengarra Mountain Lodge & Forest
Join us for a fun-filled FREE Family Day on Sunday 26th July (11am–4.30pm) at Glengarra Mountain Lodge. Burncourt is a designated conservation area for the Native Irish Honey Bee, with preservation led by the neighbouring Galtee Honey Farm and the Mac Giolla Coda family. This special event celebrates their work while encouraging families to explore and appreciate our rich biodiversity.
· The Bee Hotel – Help build a bee hotel using leaves, twigs and stones.
· Sweet as Honey with pastry chef Kristin Jahnke (12pm, 2pm & 4pm) – Learn to make delicious no-bake honey treats.
· Bee Silly – Bee-themed games inspired by classic playground favourites.
· Bee Gardeners – Decorate a plant pot, sow a bee-friendly seed and take home your own mini bee garden.
· Doodle & Dawdle with Bernadette Doverman (11am, 1pm & 3pm) – Guided nature sketching for ages 6+ (booking required: 087 6967661; children must be accompanied).
· "Lulu Meets the Bees" Story Trail along the Fairy Doors Path.
· Honey Hunt – A gentle 3km family treasure hunt through the forest.
· Bee Buzzing – Live children's music from Rockwell Music Academy.
· A special talk by Micheál Mac Giolla Coda of Galtee Honey Farm on protecting the Native Irish Honey Bee.
