The Offaly Rover: Ballad Singing in the Faithful County is a Live Music in Residential Healthcare Settings Scheme initiative led by local folk musician Ruairí O’Shea, bringing the power of traditional music to every nursing home across County Offaly.

Ruairí will rove the county creating welcoming, inclusive music sessions in each care setting he visits. Residents, staff, and visiting family members will be invited to gather in relaxed community circles, sharing in the joy of well-loved folk ballads and traditional songs.

At the heart of the project is participation—encouraging everyone to engage at a level that feels comfortable and enjoyable. Whether through singing along, gentle movement, conversation, or quiet listening, each session is shaped by those present.

Music will act as a catalyst for connection and reminiscence, sparking memories, stories, and shared experiences. Tailored specifically for older communities, The Offaly Rover is designed to support wellbeing, foster social bonds, and create meaningful moments for all involved.
