One Sea – One Sky

One Sea | One Sky is a week-long community creative project led by Tomhaggard Clean Coasts, bringing together local volunteers, families, schools and community groups in Kilmore Quay to celebrate and care for their coastal environment through creativity, learning and shared action.

Working alongside professional artists, participants will take part in shoreline safaris, beach cleans and creative workshops, collecting and repurposing beach plastics, fishing rope, oyster bags and other recovered materials. Along the way, they will learn about marine biodiversity, microplastics, the circular economy and the importance of dark skies for wildlife.

Together, the community will create a large suspended crab sculpture from reclaimed materials, celebrating Kilmore Quay's rich coastal heritage while highlighting the importance of protecting our seas and shoreline.

The project encourages people of all ages to work together, build new skills and see waste as a valuable resource. It promotes environmental awareness, community pride and positive action for the future.

The week will culminate in the installation of the sculpture at the Stella Maris Centre in Kilmore Quay, followed by a community celebration with storytelling, music, lighting and refreshments. A follow-on workshop with local groups will ensure the skills, creativity and environmental messages developed through the project continue to benefit the community long after the event.
