Brosna River Literary & Music Festival

Inspired and connected by the  River Brosna, the communities of Clara, Ballycumber, Pollagh, Ferbane and Rahan come together along the banks of the river to share their music, poetry & stories. A central feature of the festival is a curated performance that includes music from the Brosna River Suite alongside other locally significant historical and place-based compositions connected to the river. This musical programme is interwoven with spoken word contributions from representatives of each town and village along the Brosna. Each town and village along the banks of the Brosna is invited to share a story, read a piece of prose, or recite a poem, creating a living narrative of the river as it flows through different communities.

Performances will include Grace Minnock, harpist from Rahan who will perform the Brosna Suite as part of her repertoire and Rahan Comhaltas Group. Also taking part  in this years festival is The Glowing Bug Puppet Theatre who will provide a spectacular shadow theatre show drawing inspiration from their research of biodiversity and natural habitats along the River Brosna. Designed especially for young children and families, this engaging and interactive performance will use puppetry, storytelling, and creativity to introduce audiences to the insects, birds, animals, and plant life that depend on healthy river and wetland ecosystems.
