Ardú returns in 2026 with an exciting new large-scale mural project on the Old Youghal Road, created in collaboration with artist James Kirwan and local residents.

Building on the success of Ardú's ongoing programme of public art and community engagement, this year's project will invite people living and working in the area to share stories, experiences and perspectives that will help shape a new mural responding directly to the place and the people who call it home. 

Through a process of creative consultation and collaboration, James Kirwan will work with the community to explore the character, heritage and contemporary identity of the Old Youghal Road, transforming local insights into a vibrant artwork that reflects the spirit of the area.

The completed mural will contribute to Cork's growing network of public artworks, bringing colour and creativity to the streetscape while fostering a sense of pride, connection and belonging. In keeping with the Ardú vision, the project celebrates the power of art to animate public space, encourage participation in culture and creativity, and strengthen people's relationship with the places they live.
