The Welcoming Project at glór is an intercultural dance and music programme run by Catherine Young Dance to foster creativity, well-being, cultural integration and social inclusion.

The project involves world class professional artists: musicians and dancers as well as migrants, refugees, asylum seekers (MRAS) and Clare natives. Catherine Young is expanding the scope of this project to include Arts Centres around the country who wish to work with new and diverse groups with a view to integrating both with the Arts, and the wider community. The project will work with Clare Immigrant Support Centre and the local Direct Provision centres.

The project encompasses seven workshops of African dance and Palestinian dabke in the community centre in Miltown Malbay beginning on Saturday 25th January and continuing through February and March and finishes with a public performance of Céilí Afro Dabke in glór on Sunday March 15th at 4pm. Céilí Afro Dabke is a world music céilí featuring African dance, traditional dabke dance from Palestine/Syria and the old style Irish céilí dances. The workshops are open to everyone over the age of eighteen who is interested in music, dance and meeting new people. No previous experienced required and the workshops and attendance at Céilí Afro Dabke is free of charge.
