16th Annual Conference on Comparative Mythology, hosted by Rathcroghan Visitor Centre

16th Annual Conference of the International Association for Comparative Mythology is to be held at Rathcroghan Visitor Centre, Tulsk, Ireland on August 21-25, 2023. The conference is organised by the IACM in collaboration with Rathcroghan Visitor Centre and the Fluid and Complex Systems Research Centre at Coventry University, UK. This will bring an international audience of contributors and attendees to Roscommon to appreciate the strong heritage and mythological survivals of our area.

The mission of the IACM is to research the various forms that mythologies have taken in history and prehistory, including their use in ritual, and their presence in archaeological remnants as well as in various religions, while making use of philological, linguistic, genetic and other scientific methods. Information on the association can be found here: https://www.compmyth.org/ This edition of the conference will include a special topic devoted to Celtic Mythology, with a special emphasis on Irish mythology, Ráth Cruachan and the Ulster Cycle mythology, Comparative study of Celtic myths in the context of the Indo-European and World mythology.

The conference will be held in hybrid format: papers will be accepted to be presented either in person or virtually by Zoom.
