A Piece of Me
Boyle Family Resource Centre proposes to deliver a creative photography and storytelling project with its local men’s group and local community, in collaboration with professional photographer Brian Farrell. Running from Autumn, the project will provide participants with an opportunity to creatively explore identity, memory, and personal experience through photography and visual storytelling.
The project will engage men who may be experiencing social isolation, disadvantage, low confidence, or challenges connecting within the community. Through a series of guided workshops, participants will work collaboratively with the photographer to develop creative photography skills while exploring meaningful ways to tell their own stories through images. Each participant will select objects, items, or personal belongings that hold significance in their lives and reflect aspects of their identity, experiences, interests, or heritage. Participants will then work creatively to arrange and photograph these objects in ways that communicate something meaningful about themselves. Alongside the photographic work, each participant will prepare a short written reflection explaining the significance of their chosen objects and the stories behind them.
