Alternative Kilkenny Arts Festival 2024
The AKA is a community Volunteer led arts Festival which includes but is not limited to Youth Arts, Dance, Traditional Arts, Poetry, Heritage,Craft, Visual Arts, Installations, Theatre, Music, Comedy and Film.
AKA takes place every year in August for a period of 10 days and has over 90 exhibitions and events happening around Kilkenny city and county. AKA is run exclusively by a committee of volunteers from the arts and community development sector in Kilkenny. AKA recognises that cultural initiatives create high impact when they are community focused and community led therefore our objective is to establish a connection between artists, musicians, craftspeople, and their respective audiences with a core aim of promoting Tourism across county Kilkenny. An online submission form for the festival will be disseminated in April-May 2024. Online projects will be accessible through the AKA website and artists own platforms of choice.
Venues will not be finalised until closer to the date. Stay tuned and keep and eye on our social media platforms.
Entry to the festival is free but artists are permitted to charge for tickets to performances and events.
