Amergin’s Tale
Amergin’s Tale is an interactive theatre piece by Tailtiu Theatre. Audiences will arrive at the venue for the telling of a story written by Amergin, the ancient Celtic poet, said to be buried in Drogheda. However, the story tellers soon realise that parts of the story are missing. The audience is then tasked with travelling across Drogheda, visiting local businesses and landmarks. At these places they will either take photographs, scan QR codes, or receive a code word to bring back to the story tellers. When the audience returns to the venue, these vital pieces of information are slotted into the story, and the audience are treated to the full tale.
This piece is aimed at family groups and adheres to Covid Protocols. Families will arrive at the designated time for their show and be sent off on different routes in their pods around the town. When the families return, they will see the full performance.
The timeline of the piece breaks down as follows:
- First ten minutes – Arrival and introduction of task
- Twenty minutes – Travelling town route
- Twenty minutes – Full performance on return
