Ancient Irish Legends Workshop

Over the course of several workshops, I will work with the young people guiding them through selecting, exploring and illustrating a local myth with Sligo connections. Possible myths such as the legend of Balor of the Evil Eye, whose eye burned a hole into the soil after the battle of Moytura, which became Loch na Sul, near Riverstown. Or the tale of the battle of Omra and Romra, that culminated in the weeping tears of Gille which have become Lough Gill.

Having selected a myth, the group will then break down the myth into its key moments, to form a narrative. At the culmination of the project, this narrative and illustration series will be installed on-site, forming an interactive story trail that can be enjoyed by families and visitors.

These workshops will combine both art and creative writing skills and possibly even graphic layout with the kids input.
