The Alternative Kilkenny Arts (AKA) Festival returns from August 6th–16th with a vibrant programme of artist-led events across County Kilkenny. As part of this, Creative Ireland support will focus on the delivery of Artists in Motion (AIM), a targeted initiative that supports community-based artists to collaborate, share skills and develop participatory work with their local communities. Through a series of facilitated sessions and presentations, AIM creates meaningful opportunities for engagement, connection and creative development. Celebrating creativity in all its forms, AKA supports local artists and communities to present accessible, inclusive and innovative work in everyday community spaces. Rooted in collaboration, Alternative Kilkenny Arts extends its reach into town and rural communities through targeted outreach, ensuring broader access to cultural activity and encouraging participation across the county.

The AKA Festival operates through an established network of artists, community groups, venues and local organisations, built over ten years of delivery. This existing network provides a strong foundation for reaching both participants and audiences in an organic and trusted way.
