Building on the success of the Memory of Water project, Arts in Motion will encourage and engage artists and creative practitioners at a local level to deliver creative/art programming for older people with physical and/or cognitive needs. This ambitious, investigative, capacity building and engaging project will enable a more cohesive approach to developing creative practice in this area.
Visual Artist and Project Coordinator Orlagh Meegan Gallagher, will be leading and mentoring several artists/creative practitioners who are interested in delivering a short project to older people in care settings. Successful applicants will participate in a short course devised by Orlagh Meegan-Gallagher (Íontas Artist in Residence) which will focus on key elements of delivering creative/art programming for older people. The artists/creatives involved will devise sessions based on their own practice and deliver them in a care setting. Mentorship, feedback from artists/creatives, participants and care staff and dissemination of learning are key elements of this project. As this is a pilot programme, a maximum of 2 creatives will be engaged.
This project aligns with the priorities set out in the Creative Monaghan Strategy, the Monaghan Age Friendly Plan and the Healthy Monaghan Strategy.
