Artist in residence at Backstage in 2022, Catherine Young, will deliver a community integration project aimed primarily at the African community, celebrating culture through music, singing and dance.  Longford has an ethnically diverse population with a vibrant African community.  The project will commence with meetings with key representative of this community to ensure that they have a say in the vision, structure and outcome of the project.

It is envisaged that a participatory programme of workshops led by Catherine and facilitated by professional musicians and dancers will run over the summer months, sharing and exploring the rich African musical culture, with the ultimate aim of creating a performance that can be presented at an African Festival in September 2022
