Bilberry Sunday was traditionally marked with a walk up Ardagh Hill to collect bilberries on the last Sunday in July each year. The tradition had died-out but was revived in recent years by Creative Ardagh. This yaer, it was a community event involving a walk up the hill, with a horticulturist, Brendan Farrell, as guide; a picnic; Viking shield demonstration; and talk by an archaeologist, Adel Coleman.
