A  Biodiversity Plan is being prepared for the McHale Park campus in Castlebar. This will identify the various areas of the site where biodiversity can be protected, enhanced or introduced. The plan will contain a series of actions to achieve these aims and implementation of the actions will commence this year.

An important element of the plan will be to raise awareness of biodiversity and the actions that are being undertaken. It is proposed to commission an artist, working with the ecologist, who will identify ways that biodiversity can be highlighted and celebrated at McHale Park. The artist will, working with various teams/age groups, to respond to the theme of biodiversity and pollinators, e.g through willow sculpture, biodiversity murals, green wall design etc.
