Birr Vintage Sunday Parade : Travelling through Time

The Vintage Sunday Parade is the heart of  Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival, with audiences in the region of 6000 and 300 participants. Street spectacle allows communities to come together to create, celebrate and acknowledge our cultural richness, and have ownership of the event. There is a long tradition to the Parade but we feel that new elements can be introduced that compliment this and give more creative opportunities.

For 2023, we will work with Cloughjordan Circus Club and Caoimhe Dunn, propmaker, with local artists, groups and a local dance company, Gravity Dance, to devise our own street spectacle that is community driven, relevant, has more meaningful engagement, & supports the development of local artists and the groups involved.

We will work with OLDC Social Inclusion and Youth workers to build relationships in the community.

Lantern making will form part of the workshops, to decorate the Courthouse Yard, that holds multi-disciplinary events throughout the week, and for a lantern Parade on Fireworks Night.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
