Bookville Festival
Bookville is a festival for families and children aged 0 to 12 years, managed by the Kilkenny Library service and Arts Office. It is a multi- disciplinary festival with events featuring reading, writing, storytelling, comedy, illustration, music and the visual arts. The festival will support further engagement in the Arts for families, children and young people.
2022 is the 6th consecutive Bookville Festival. This year the Festival will take place from 7th to 12th October, featuring some of the best contemporary children's authors and illustrators from Ireland, the UK and Europe.
For 2022 the Bookville Festival will incorporate:
Bookville Festival book
- 13,000 Bookville activity books, will be distributed to every primary school age child in Kilkenny county and surrounds and to every library branch within Kilkenny county.
- Over the 6 days of the Festival there will be a comprehensive programme of workshops for primary school groups and the general public held in library branches across county Kilkenny.
- Six videos by contemporary children’s authors and illustrators, featuring storytelling, art, creative writing and the Irish language will be available free online and accessible after the festival.
- An exhibition highlighting the artwork of four of the Festival illustrators and giving children an insight into book illustration. Open until October 22nd.
