Bookville is a festival for families and children age 0 to 12 years, managed by the Kilkenny Library service and the Arts Office. It is a multi-disciplinary festival with events including reading, writing, storytelling, comedy, illustration, music and the visual arts. The festival will support further engagement in the Arts for families, children and young people.

2021 is the 5th consecutive Bookville Festival. This year the festival will last for the month of October, featuring some of the best contemporary children’s authors and illustrators from Ireland and around the world.

13,000 Bookville activity books will be distributed to every primary school age child in Kilkenny county and surrounds and to every library branch within Kilkenny county.

New for 2021 will be 4 days of free online events for primary schools and the general public, including storytelling, creative writing, illustration and music. There will also be video art workshops that will be accessible after the festival.
