The Borrowed Ground Artist Collective in association with Droichead Arts Centre will set up independent artist studios in Drogheda Town. The studios will be housed in one building and will be a not- for-profit artist led initiative. This studio complex will provide high quality, affordable, well-managed, individual studios. The studio spaces will accommodate professional visual artists, from a number of disciplines. It will provide a supportive environment for artists to produce work and develop their professional practices and will create the opportunity for artists to collaborate within a positive and supportive working space. This will be the first independent artist studios in Drogheda, and will be supported by the Droichead Art Centre.
The collective group of artists involved have identified that there is a need for a studio complex to work from in our own town, not only as a place of work but also as a hub for artistic discussion and critique, to network ideas and share experiences and opportunities. The space will enable collaborations, mentoring and growth of an artistic collective. The strength of the group will be developed and expanded by working in a shared building, where the resources, skills and diversity of the group are pooled together to breakdown common challenges, to advocate for shared funding and to benefit from a safe place where members can develop new work.
Updates on the studio will be posted on the Droichead Arts Facebook Page.
