Bridge Street Mural Project

The Bridge Street Mural Project will see a creation of a collaborative mural on the front of an apartment block on Bridge Street as you enter Waterford City.

Waterford City and County Council and The Walls Project, in partnership with the management company of an apartment block on the periphery of Waterford Cultural Quarter (WCQ) proposes that the Bridge Street façade of the building painted within the Waterford Walls Festival Programme 2022.

A very large mural has recently been completed on the façade of the Fitzwilton Hotel alongside the apartment block. Continuing mural art-work along this street will lead to very good scope for area uplift and community involvement leading to greater social cohesion.

Community engagement with residents in the area will be a vital part of the consultative artwork development process, with community representatives brought into the early stages to feed in their ideas and hopes for the artwork and its outcomes for the WCQ area.

Animation of this area of Waterford city delivers on the “placemaking” and “collaboration” objectives of the Waterford Cultural Quarter Strategic Plan 2021-2025.

Waterford Walls is an International Street Art Festival based in Waterford, Ireland. Now in its 8th year, the Festival returns 12th - 21st August 2022. The progress and finished artwork of this mural will be featured on the Waterford Walls website , Waterford Cultural Quarter Facebook page and social media platforms during the festival in August.
