Bringing Brigid’s Cloak to Life - Creative Writing Workshop on Zoom

Bring Brigids Cloak to Life will see the cloak embellished with symbols associated with Brigid, goddess and matron saint, using nature print, crochet, stitch and felt.  The lining of the cloak will be a record of the words – poems, blessings, prayers, with secret pockets for private messages. Many materials will be sourced through donation, nature-foraging, charity shops, upcycling and recycling.

The project will work in rural communities in West Cavan, with outreach to the wider county to be as inclusive as the Abbess herself and combines the creative writing facilitation of Bee Smith with the visual art and craft of long-time collaborator, Morag Donald.

The workshops will not only increase awareness of St. Brigid both locally and globally but there will also be the enjoyment of a shared activity in the making of what will be a legacy exhibit, which they can take pride in taking part and attend the exhibition.

This first workshop will take place on Zoom by writer, Bee Smith, with a follow-up face-to-face workshop by Morag Donald on 29 June.

Don't worry if you can only do Zoom.  Morag or Bee will include your contribution if you cannot physically write it on to the lining.
