A series of theatre workshops will be delivered that will be inclusive and explore issues around identity, allow our crew members to have a voice, to tell their story and give them the opportunity to express themselves through drama. Our crew will benefit enormously by working alongside professional artists Anna Simpson , Fiona Keenan O'Brien, Anthony Kinahan and Leah Rossiter from Quintessence Theatre Co. The culmination will be a piece of theatre for family and friends initially but we would hope to further develop the piece for an audience.
For our crew the project will also help develop self-esteem and communication skills. This project will help remove the barriers that prevent young adults with ID progressing and developing as individuals and will enhance the creative potential of our crew.
Our project contributes to Creative Louth and the two specific pillars by :
1. Enabling the creative potential of a community of young adults with intellectual disabilities thus further enabling creativity in the disability community
2. Focusing on provision of high quality arts experiences and programmes for a community
Creating access to cultural participation
This project would not be abe to take place without the support of Creative Ireland
