Cavan Arts Festival 2020 has re-imagined its programme of work to continue to bring accessible quality arts experiences to the people of the town and county.
Two major commissioning projects are being developed for professional artists to engage with the urban landscape of Cavan Town through their artistic practise;
The commissioning of a large-scale mural to be painted by a professional muralist which will hold a lasting legacy in the artistic landscape of the centre of Cavan Town. The artist will complement this work by delivering a series of talks on their work to the local community.
A professional lead artist will work on the creation and installation of a new strand to the festival programming in light of Covid-19 restrictions: Street Gallery. Through this commission Cavan Arts Festival will support one professional lead artist to devise and develop an outdoor exhibition space for their art using the town streets, buildings, bridges, and general urban landscape as a canvas for sculpture, installation, sound, and visual art.
Part of the Street Gallery strand will include the support of two Cavan based artists who will work with members of Cavan Youth Reach and local Transition Year students to develop their “Room” of the Street Gallery exhibition and install the work they have created during a series of workshops
