Change makers Botanical Ink-Making and Charcoal Workshop Fully Booked

Full booked Botanical Ink-Making Workshop

Are you passionate about reducing household waste and exploring sustainable practices? Discover the art of botanical ink-making in our hands-on beginners’ workshop! This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how to create plant-based, sustainable inks using materials foraged from local trees and plants.

Sheila Jordan is deeply concerned about the extensive ash-dieback affecting Ireland’s native ash trees. She responds to the natural environment, using wool fibers, charcoal, and natural colours.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Traditional Skills: Learn ink-making techniques that have stood the test of time.
  • Sustainable Foraging/ practices: Learn what plants to forage for colors responsibly and make Botanical Inks. Make carbon black in from crushed charcoal in Response to Ash-Dieback
  • Creative Experimentation: Experiment with modifiers to change the color and tones of your inks.
  • Historical Insights: Dive into the history of ink-making, including storage and preservation methods.

What to Expect:

  • Cultural Heritage: Explore the rich history of natural dye and ink-making in Ireland.
  • Hands-On Experience: Bring your curiosity and some small jars for your creations!
