Sustainable Papermaking Workshop with Polly Minett
Discover the Art of Sustainable PapermakingPolly Minett, a renowned Paper Artist and Arts Educator, for an immersive workshop that champions the principles of a circular economy. Polly’s journey began in the 1980s in Japan, where she honed her skills using high shrinkage plant fibers to create stunning wearable art. Her passion for papermaking continued to flourish upon her return to the UK, where she studied under Jacki Parry at the Glasgow School of Art, specializing in plant fiber papers inspired by nature.
In 2001, Polly established Paper Works in Kilkenny, a studio dedicated to sustainable papermaking. Here, she combines locally sourced natural materials with traditional fibers like Japanese mulberry bark (Kozo) and Filipino banana leaf (Abaca). Polly’s innovative approach has led her to create unique wearable paper sculptures and book works, incorporating recycled cotton rag and botanical dyes.
