Clare Library Children’s Service have selected the picturebook Barney Goose, A Wild Atlantic Way Adventure written and illustrated by Carol Ann Treacy and published by O’Brien Press (2020), to create an interactive story walk or ‘Scéal Trail’ which will be placed in outdoor settings.

Each double page spread of the book will be printed in colour on A2 corriboard and mounted on wooden frames. The boards will be installed in the outdoor spaces of Library sites for a period of time. Schools and crèches will be invited to explore the picturebook by walking from board to board, reading the story as they go. There are lots of cross-curricular learning opportunities in the story such as migration, nature, life-cycles, literacy and numeracy. The exhibition will move to a new library location after a period of time so that children across the county of Clare can enjoy the story.
