Clare Wetland Story Map

Clare Wetland Story Map will create an online interactive map to showcase 10 different wetland sites comprising diverse wetland habitats and how we the public should value them and to learn of their importance and the ecosystem services they provide.

The project aims to inspire groups to carry out citizen science projects in conjunction with the National Biodiversity Data Centre (NBDC) and runs in parallel with the ongoing Clare Wetland Surveys Project 2022-2025.

There is an increasing awareness of the ecosystem services that wetland systems provide for biodiversity (habitats, flora and a wildlife refuge for endangered fauna), carbon sequestration, water storage reservoirs and flood prevention, water quality and an educational resource.

The project aims to encourage local communities to consider the protection of wetlands in their community biodiversity action plans and undertake citizen science projects and wildlife talks and walks.
