The River Blackwater in Munster is Irelands best kept secret.
Those of us lucky enough to know it, or live near it, know this, and its magic and wonder is safely guarded.
For the first time ever this series, presented as Gaeilge by Diarmuid O’Drisceoil, brings you the story of the River Blackwater, the spine of Munster. Following in the footsteps of Annroai O’ Liathain and using his book Cois Móire as a travel guide, Diarmuid will travel this spine of river by any means, from its source at the breast of the Goddess Danú, to its mouth at the sea in Youghal. From this spine, a flowing tapestry depicting Irelands history is woven, featuring the treasures of this rich environment - an abundance of fervent wildlife, flora and fauna, and characters and chronicles who are brought to life through ruins of historic buildings, and energetic modern communities - All which serves to inspire the abundance artistic endeavours along its journey, reflecting Ireland in all its triumph and tragedy, war and worship. This 4 x 1 hour series will envelope you in a natural environment that displays a festival of life in sound and vision as we meets with the people along the way whose lives are moulded by this beautiful river, An Abhainn Mhór na Mumhann, Cois Móire.
