In 2018 under the Creative Ireland Programme a strategic plan was prepared for the development of choral music in the county. The consultation process involved 18 choirs of varying ages and genres. It was carried out by specialist Katherine Zesserson (UK) and the resulting plan will be published in 2019. The plan has been written by Arts Officer Jenny Sherwin with Katherine Zesserson and edited by Martin Drury. This application for 2019 relates to the delivery of actions contained within that plan which include the development of a new and countywide choral network, development of both choral music practitioners and singers, the launch of a Sing in Wicklow website delivered by BIGO media. It will be supported by an appointed network facilitator together with the continuing artistic development provided by Katherine Zesserson. The range of actions will include workshops, support for performances involving a high degree of collaboration (Wicklow Sings with18 choirs participating). It will also support the formation where relevant gaps are identified of new choirs and aims to increase capacity within existing choral groups. The youth measures within this programme include collaboration with Music Generation Wicklow.
