Covid Care Concerts are a new initiative, created by Blackwater Valley Opera Festival and the Mobile Music Machine, in response to the government's Community call. The project is enabling world class Irish musicians to perform opera based, socially distanced concerts in the gardens of residential care homes across County Waterford.

The quartet of musicians will spend 10 days in Waterford, performing concerts in 20 care homes. The project is designed to reach the most socially isolated members of society at a time of great psychological and emotional stress. The project is also providing much needed performance opportunities for leading Irish artists to perform live.

The project is a collaboration with the HSE, and it involves a creative and interactive element, whereby residents engage with the music prior to the visit, and journal their positive memories associated with the songs the musicians will perform. They will also be assessing the positive mental health and emotional impact of the project through a wellness survey.
