‘Creative Carlow’s Holy Wells – inspired poetry’
Creative Carlow’s Holy Well – Life Springs Eternal is a intergenerational collaborative Heritage and Arts project delivered by Carlow County Council. The project captured aspects of the cultural heritage of a select sample of Holy Wells in County Carlow and recounted these stories through videography. Subsequently the project team invited the public to attend a free coach tour to engage with two Holy Wells (St. Laserian’s in Old Leighlin and St. Finian’s in Cranavane, Kildavin) with a view to understanding their wellbeing while engaging with the Holy Well. The creative response was a reflection of the project lifecycle, as the poet, Clifton Redmond, met landowners, clambered through fields and was part of the community groups on the engagement/ re-engagement with the Holy Wells. In 2026, we will publish a booklet of poetry produced during the project.
