Creative Ireland County Cork Conference 2019

The 3rd Annual Creative Ireland County Cork Conference, took place in the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow on Thursday 17th October from 10:00 – 17:00. The focus of the Conference was on supporting creativity in young people in the understanding that we are never too young to express ourselves and explore every avenue of creativity. The Creative Ireland County Cork Conference provided a wonderful forum for these discussions. There was a wonderful line-up of speakers fincluding Stefani Preissner, Mary McGrath, Justine Foster and Eamonn Kelly, PO, DCHG and staff of Cork County Council’s Library Service also gave an overview of some of the wonderful cultural opportunities for young people to avail of through their local library branch. Short films produced by young people were shown as well as one or two special performances and it was a most enjoyable and informative day for everyone in attendance, from young people interested in culture and creativity to groups and organisations that are involved in cultural initiatives at the local level. ‘Creative Ireland is making a real difference in the County of Cork with communities and individuals getting involved in a range of different creative undertakings’ said the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Christopher O’Sullivan. Speaking in advance of the Conference he noted it is ‘a wonderful opportunity for people to learn about a range of different opportunities and how vital youthful creativity and cultural expression is for all of us’.
